Denakkanaaga Annual Meeting Held, New Board Members Elected
The Denakkanaaga Board of Directors held their annual meeting on Thursday, June 4, 2020 via tele and video conferencing from Fairbanks due to the Covid-19 pandemic mandates on social distancing.
At that time, board members and delegates from the interior tribal councils re-elected Jack Wholecheese of Huslia to Seat B, Yukon-Koyukuk and elected Cora Demit of Northway to Seat F, Upper Tanana and Margaret Henry of Circle to Seat D, Yukon Flats. All terms are for three years, ending in 2023. Natalie Newman of Rampart was appointed the Denakkanaaga board youth representative for a one-year term.
Denakkanaaga thanked outgoing board members at the meeting. They were Luke Titus of Minto, Roy David of Tok, Oline Petruska of Nikolai, Patricia Salmon of Chalkyitsik and youth representative Brooke Demientieff of Holy Cross.
Also elected at the annual meeting was the Tanana Chiefs Conference Executive Board Elder Advisor. Peter Demoski of Nulato was re-elected to that position.
Immediately following the annual meeting, the new members were sworn in and officers elected. Rev. Dr. Anna Frank was elected the new First Chief of Denakkanaaga, Jack Wholecheese as Second Chief and Cora Demit as Secretary/Treasurer.
