Denakkanaaga Collaborations
-

School Districts
Denakkanaaga is pleased to partner with school districts within Interior Alaska to provide informational sessions on the Native cultures of our region. They include talking to students and staff about our Native way of life, food gathering, singing, dancing, and traditional activities, such as fish camps and beading. Denakkanaaga is pleased to also provide copies of our various cultural programs, such as “Our People Speak” for use in the classrooms.

Community Groups
Denakkanaaga partners with community groups on a regular basis to provide cultural awareness sessions. By facilitating sharing Elder’s knowledge with the community, Denakkanaaga serves as the connection between organizations wanting to gain a better understanding of Alaska Native issues and culture and the Elders who hold that wisdom. Please contact us if you would like to schedule a session.
The challenges Elders face are daunting. Sub-standard economic, health, and social conditions exist in many of the nation’s American Indian and Alaska Native communities, and access to critical services is limited–especially for most urban Native Elders. Despite these disadvantages, Elders—wherever they may live–continue to exhibit courage and good will, honoring traditional Native values. We continue to look to them for inspiration, guidance, and wisdom.
