Denakkanaaga Annual Elders and Youth Conference
Denakkanaaga holds an annual Elders and Youth Conference the first week in June in an Interior community selected at the previous conference.
Tribal Councils within Interior Alaska send Elder delegates to the conference to discuss and address regional Elder issues, concerns and needs. State legislators, Native leaders and other dignitaries are also in attendance at the conference to hear what the Elders and youth have to say.
Under the auspices of the Tanana Chiefs Conference Youth Program, Native youth from Interior villages attend the conference and participate in the workshops and discussions.
During the conference, Denakkanaaga holds its annual meeting; electing board members to fill any open seats, reporting to members on Denakkanaaga’s programs, financial status and action taken on resolutions and mandates from the prior year’s conference.
